Studying in Italy: the dates not to miss (2026/2027)
Visa deadline on 30 November 2026, pre-enrolment quotas, the residence permit and enrolment before 31 January: the calendar in order.
The date everything depends on
For the 2026/2027 academic year, the deadline for filing a study visa application in Tunisia is 30 November 2026. For 2027/2028 it will be 31 October 2027. Plan everything else backwards from it.
In order
- Apply to the university: each university sets its own dates, and some close earlier than others. Check them programme by programme.
- Pre-enrol on Universitaly: since 2026/2027, each university can validate only a limited number of pre-enrolments, its places for foreign students plus 20%. Waiting until the last week risks finding the quota full.
- Visa appointment at Almaviva: Almaviva invites pre-enrolled students by e-mail, at the address given on Universitaly, and the date cannot be changed. The embassy announces up to 90 days of processing.
- Arrival in Italy: the residence permit for study must be requested within eight working days of arrival.
- Final enrolment: a student who is not enrolled at the university by 31 January has their visa revoked.
A trap to avoid
Changing your e-mail address between pre-enrolment and the visa: Almaviva's invitation would go to the old address. Keep the same one from start to finish.
